Dunster Castle - Tel: 01643 823004 National
Trust property dominating the ancient town of Dunster. The
seat of the Luttrell family for 600 years. Originally pre-Norman
but remodelled in the 19th century. Open March to November
but closed on Thursdays and Fridays throughout the season.
Watersmeet House, Nr Lynmouth - Tel:
01271 850887 National Trust. A fishing lodge built in 1832
in a deep gorge at the confluence of the East Lyn and Hoar
Oak Water. Spectacular scenery and walks.
Holnicote Estate, Exmoor - Tel: 01643
862452 National Trust. Formerly owned by the Acland family
and including the high moor areas around Dunkery Beacon and
Winsford Hill plus the picturesque villages of Selworthy,
Allerford, Bossington, Horner and Luccombe. Miles of footpaths
through the fields, woods, moors and villages.
Tarr Steps - An ancient 'clapper' bridge
of stone slabs spanning the River Barle in stunning scenery
not far from Dulverton. The nearby Tarr Farm Inn serves generous
cream teas and meals by day and is a memorable restaurant
in the evenings. Many pleasant walks nearby to suit all abilities.

Lake - Watersports Centre not far from Station Cottage.
Sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, launch hire and tuition. Premier
trout fishery, bird watching and lakeside walks.

Doone Valley - Fictional home of the
dastardly Doones made famous in the novel 'Lorna Doone' by
R.D. Blackmore. In fact Badgworthy Water, near Malmsmead not
far from Lynmouth, a spectacular river valley in sweeping
moorland with the ruins of a medieval village to support the
story. Oare Church, Robbers Bridge and other features associated
with the novel are all nearby. Be prepared for a lot of walking
in wonderful scenery.
